    How to Get More Reviews for Your Moving Company

    Reviews decide where you show in Google Maps and whether the customer calls you or the next mover. The companies with hundreds of reviews aren't lucky. They ask every customer, the same day, with one tap to the review page.

    How do I get more reviews for my moving company?

    Ask every customer, the same day the move finishes, with a text that links straight to your Google review page. Have the crew lead mention it in person at the end of the job, send one reminder a few days later, and answer every review you get. Never pay for reviews or only ask happy customers on Google; both break Google's rules.

    When to ask

    The best moment is the end of move day, when the customer is relieved and the crew is still in their mind. The second-best is the next morning. After a week, response rates fall off fast.

    • Crew lead mentions it in person while wrapping up: "You'll get a text from us. A quick review really helps our crew."
    • Text the review link within an hour of the job closing.
    • Send one email reminder two or three days later if they haven't left one.
    • Stop after that. More reminders annoy people who already said no.

    Review request templates

    Same-day text

    Within an hour of the move finishing

    Hi {first name}, thanks for moving with {company} today! If {crew lead} and the crew took good care of you, would you leave a quick review? It takes about 30 seconds: {review link}

    Reminder email

    2–3 days later, if no review yet

    Subject: How did your move go, {first name}?

    We hope you're settling in. Reviews are how families find movers they can trust, and how our crew gets recognized for good work.

    If you have a minute, we'd be grateful: {review link}

    If anything wasn't right, reply to this email and I'll handle it personally. — {name}, {company}

    Crew lead, in person

    At the end of the job

    "Before we head out, is there anything else we can do? … Great. You'll get a text from us in a bit with a link. If you're happy with how today went, a review mentioning the crew makes a big difference for us."

    Customer who had a problem

    Before any review request

    "I saw the note about the scratched dresser. I'm sorry. Here's what we'll do: {fix}. I'll call you {when} to confirm it's handled."

    Fix it first. Then send the normal review request like everyone else.

    The rules that keep your listing safe

    Google's review policies forbid offering incentives for reviews and forbid selectively asking only happy customers to review you (often called review gating). Breaking them can get reviews removed or your profile restricted. Ask everyone the same way, and send unhappy customers to someone who can fix the problem, not away from the review page.

    • Don't pay for reviews or offer discounts or gifts in exchange.
    • Don't write reviews for yourself or have staff do it.
    • Don't ask only customers you think are happy to post on Google.
    • Do ask every customer; do make it easy; do respond to every review.

    How to answer reviews, especially bad ones

    1. 1

      Answer within a day or two

      Prospective customers read your replies as much as the reviews.

    2. 2

      Thank people by name and mention the crew

      "Thanks, Maria. We'll pass this along to Jose and the crew." It reads as real, because it is.

    3. 3

      For a bad review, stay calm and specific

      Apologize for the experience, state the facts briefly without arguing, and invite them to call a named person.

    4. 4

      Fix it offline, then follow up

      Many customers update a review after a problem is genuinely solved. Don't pressure them to.

    5. 5

      Learn from the pattern

      If several reviews mention late arrivals or surprise charges, that's an operations fix, not a marketing one. See claims software for keeping damage issues organized.

    Track reviews like a sales number

    • Reviews per week, against moves completed per week.
    • Average rating by crew lead: reviews that name crew members show who to recognize and coach.
    • Time from move completion to review request: aim for under an hour.
    • Share good reviews with the crew. It's the cheapest morale boost in the business.

    Frequently asked questions

    There is no magic number, but you want more recent reviews than the movers ranking above you in Maps, and a steady flow every week. Recency matters as well as total count.

    No. Google's policies forbid incentives for reviews, including discounts, gifts and entries into drawings. Ask every customer without an incentive.

    No. Selectively soliciting positive reviews breaks Google's policies. Ask everyone the same way, and make sure unhappy customers can reach someone who will fix the problem.

    You can only report reviews that break Google's policies, such as fake reviews, spam or conflicts of interest. For genuine bad reviews, reply professionally, fix the problem, and let new reviews outweigh it.

    Text first, because it gets read within minutes and links straight to the review page. Use email as a single reminder a few days later.
